Marty writes stories about life in gardens: about people and their plants, the culture of horticulture, the history of what we grow and why, where, and how we grow it, and what it all means to us. She tends a small, shady, densely planted city garden in Kansas City, Missouri, and a country garden in tidewater Virginia.
